Job – 42 chapters

There was none better than Job, God favored him above all, and none was as righteous as he was. God blessed him with money, cattle, family, everything!  One day the devil came before God and God asked if he ever thought about challenging his servant Job because he was most upright. The devil’s first attempt to get Job to curse God was quite clever. He killed all of Job’s children and took away his house by means of a strong wind (what I believe to be a hurricane). Although his happened Job still did not give up on God, he was persistent in his prayer. He did not curse God. The devil returned to God and God allowed him yet again to test Job. This time he took away Job’s health, but spared his life, by giving him sores of pain much like a leper. Job began to curse not God, but rather his own life. He began to question God, and that was not acceptable for our knowledge is not as vast as God’s.  After a while three of his friends who were wiser in years came forth to offer wisdom. They failed at making Job see his ways of error. Finally along came a man, younger in age and was afraid to approach Job about the situation because of his age, however he began to speak. After he spoke of the Lord’s majesty, the lord himself appeared as a whirlwind and answered Job. He began to question Job on his knowledge, showing him that no one is as great as he is. Finally in the end God was not happy with the three men, who came before Job to offer council. They did not say the right things to Job in order to show him his wrong-doings. God spoke again and said they shall give offerings to Job so that he will offer it up on their behalf for forgiveness because he would not accept it on their account. They all did as God commanded and Job was then blessed twice as much as before. Everything was restored to him including his family, cattle and land twice over.

Moral of this book – Always praise him for what he has done. Don’t only praise him when the good is going on; praise him while the bad is going on. Surely he will deliver you, much like he delivered Job and others. Something I myself am trying to do. Think about it, no matter how bad things are, God will never put you through it if he can’t bring you out. And there is NOTHING that he can’t bring you out of. It’s normal to feel discouraged when things aren’t so great but at the very least try and remember that it could be so much worse. Thank him that your situation isn’t worse. Casting crowns said it best, I will praise you in this storm.

SOMETHING NEW

We all hear stories about people in the Bible and about what they did and how they overcame this and that. But do we even know the moral or where we can find it to read it? Stories of: Jonah and the wale, David and Goliath or even the man they call Job. I’ll be going through a few books and giving you the run down. Starting with Job.
